Pretty in Pink

"Pretty in Pink" is the first of several new photographs taken this winter during two week-long photography trips to southwestern Florida and the Outer Banks region of North Carolina.  More new photographs can be seen at Susan's upcoming shows.  We're also in the process of updating and improving the website, so you will be seeing more new photos and some changes in the pages.

  The gallery tour starts here
As you browse through our galleries, we hope you'll enjoy Susan's photography as much as we do.  You'll find art in these photos -- art captured on old fashioned film in extraordinary moments of light and time as seen in the details of nature and the broader natural environment.   Insofar as these photos have been made using film and printed using conventional wet chemistry photo processing systems,  what you see in these photographs is exactly what Susan saw through her camera's lens.

About the photographer...

Susan Roberts first became interested in photography as a hobby nearly 30 years ago, but soon found her photos illustrating magazine articles and books about boating.

She moved to South Carolina in 1996 after spending six years on a 36-foot sailboat cruising up and down the U.S. East Coast from Maine to Florida, the Bahama Islands and down into the Caribbean, including South and Central America.

After making landfall on Edisto Island, she began focusing her camera's lens on the natural and manmade beauty of the Carolina coastal area. While the low country remains the primary focus of her work, she has recently begun broadening  the geographic scope of her focus.

In the year 2000, Susan began offering her work to the public, first as photo note cards and subsequently as enlargements suitable for framing.  Since that time, her work has come to grace the walls of homes and/or offices in more than 30 states, three provinces of Canada and four countries in Europe.

What sets Susan's work apart is her eye for the interplay of color and light, the simplicity of her images, and the aura of tranquility -- or, in some instances, the sense of playfulness -- that emanates from  her photos.

Moreover, she prefers working with 35mm. film and traditional photographic printing systems.  In that way, you can look at her photos knowing that you are seeing in her photographs what she saw through her lens.

Enjoy.
